Cassata
World renowned Israeli chef Eyal Shani’s latest masterpiece is a picturesque gelato/wine bar in the heart of Park HaMesila. Combining ice cream and vino is really a genius move. My apologies (actually not sorry at all), this is going to be a long one:
Every small detail curates a trendy atmosphere for people of all ages to enjoy, gather, and smile together. Especially in times of darkness, it’s important to feel the childlike sentiment that a fresh, quality frozen sweet treat brings. Outdoor dining options in the front of the establishment allow for the most amazing of people-watching. A community table presents itself, along with other charming indoor benches, which is great for meeting new people, big gatherings and private parties. Here, the Cassata team has organized local art in gallery-like fashion as well as thoughtful wine selections that rotate each month so customers can always come back and try something new. Additionally, there is an adjoining public lawn in the rear to futher emphasize how precise each decision was when creating this space.
Okay, now, finally, time to discuss the actual goodies I consumed. I was lucky enough to be one of the first attendees on their opening day. And even luckier that I got to try six of the different otherworldly creations. I’ll start with the pistachio because it’s a flavor I wouldn’t normally gravitate towards but was blown away by the savor. The sourdough also stood out to me because of how distinctive it tasted, with real bits of the toasted bread on top accompanied with a drizzle of olive oil and pinches of sea salt. Talk about rich. But in the best of ways. The matcha affogato also didn’t suck. However, the homemade strawberry sauce was the MVP. It doesn’t matter which of the flavors you add it to, it’s that good.
So if it wasn’t clear by now, yes, I am indeed a fan of everything Cassata is doing and very much so looking forward to returning, trying more flavors, drinking wine, meeting new people, bringing old friends along, and everything in between.
